Senator exits MILCON following Metro exposé, vet-care scandal

SEN. Dianne Feinstein has resigned from the Military Construction Appropriations subcommittee. As previously and extensively reviewed in these pages, Feinstein was chairperson and ranking member of MILCON for six years, during which time she had a conflict of interest due to her husband Richard C. Blum's ownership of two major defense contractors, who were awarded billions of dollars for military construction projects approved by Feinstein.
As MILCON leader, Feinstein relished the details of military construction, even micromanaging one project at the level of its sewer design. She regularly took junkets to military bases around the world to inspect construction projects, some of which were contracted to her husband's companies, Perini Corp. and URS Corp.
Two things. First, I question the timing. HA! I've been looking forward for a chance to say that (My previous post on the subject may be found here).

You'll note that the author of the Metro piece has a bit of the ol' BDS going on, there: but that's OK. I'm happy to be bipartisan when it comes to questioning Democratic Senators, particularly ones with relevant oversight over Veterans' Affairs. If Mr. Byrne is incapable of condemning a liberal without trying to tie him or her to the Bush Administration, well, that still puts him a step above his compadres, who cannot condemn fellow liberals (or Democrats not named Lieberman) at all, at all. So, in the spirit of camaraderie, I hereby officially join in his call to have Senator Feinstein resign from the Senate.
And, judging from my very quick perusal of the California Constitution, I believe that if asked, so would Gov Schwarzenegger*.

*Which is why she won't, of course. And why her colleagues and fellow-Party members won't do anything about this. And why she'll be able to just walk away.
