Spring has sprung - and that means it's high time
for Light Reading to clean up our Top Ten list of
the most important players in the optical
networking industry.

Our February list provoked a storm of email. At
least two of you agreed with our picks. The other
189 all suggested modifications - and the
language used suggested they were serious. We
particularly enjoyed the following messages:

"Enjoy living in a well, the way frogs do"

"I'm not sure I like your tone"

Whatever! There are plenty of big changes in this
month's newly revised ranking of optical
networking power hitters, including:

Three new players
Three demotions to the has-been bin (that's
gotta hurt!)
A seven place jump for Nortel's Don Smith
A drop of three spots for Wu-Fu Chen (gasp!)
A new number one mover and shaker
