Re: Margin Status

Dale/Anyone...perhaps someone can clarify margin rules.

<<Interesting how some rules that are set in stone with one brokerage can be changed elsewhere. For example, I just confirmed that at Discover marginable securities can be held in the margin account at any price above or equal to 4 1/8. Everywhere else it seems the lower limit is 5.>>

I have asked myself the same question as I have searched for yet another online broker (one that can report back an option trade within a couple of minutes of me seeing the trade go through. Is that so much to ask for? Can anyone out there offer suggestions?). There seems to be confusion whether the marginable limit is $4 or $5. Regal's website says $5, yet their subsidiary, Investrade, says $4. Perhaps it's $5 to open a long/short position and at $4 longs get called?
