Any prospective home buyer with half a brain would normally calculate in advance what price range of a home his or her income level/expenses could support paying.

But NO, blame the wasskally wabbit, no good, greedy mortgage lenders for everything. Send Congress to the rescue.

The true crook here is our edumacation system. Little, if any basic life financial management info is currently taught in school. That ranges from elementary through high school. For that matter, unless you are a finance or business major in college, I doubt a student receives any financial management training. I'd hazard a guess that if you handed out 100 checkbooks to 100 students across the grade spectrum, most if not all would not have a clue how to balance them. Most, if not all, wouldn't know the difference between a debit, credit or a ribbit.
