I think the article indicates the growing competition between Direct TV, satellite, and the MSO's, the cable companies, to deliver Hi-Def entertainment product to the end user, me and you.

it means the move to digital production will accelerate as more and more people get those Hi-Def sets. the demand is growing.

there's money there. there are reliable income streams from VOD or PPV, which i think mean the same thing. Gaw, i hate these acronyms.

right now it's coming to us through satellite and cable. But it's also all over the web. Witness porn. Both streaming and pay downloads.

you say delivery of hi-def is easy via satellite, but not so easy via cable. What about the web? where are the bottlenecks? Download times?

does that give satellite an advantage over cable? Do both have an advantage over the web?

i think that's where all of them are headed. Satellite, Cable, and the web are all going to start delivering hi-def. it's gonna be the new visual standard for digital capture.

what's that do to the web? Who can handle it best? You post articles that say there is no bandwidth scarcity, but others say there are bottlenecks everywhere.

I think this is the emerging shape of it. or at least a glimpse of it.
