So this differs from the lying MSM in America how?
Media Bias in Der Spiegel Betsy's Page
David's Medienkritik reports how the German newspaper, Der Spiegel, tells its readers that the NSA phone program involves the government eavesdropping on millions of Americans. As David points out, such mischaracterizations of news from the United States are not uncommon in Germany, although he does praise one writer has depicted the program much more fairly and pointed out that the German government has many more restrictions on civil liberties than anything here. As David writes, the German media is always reporting falsely about the United States whether it's stories about the American economy or our conduct of the war on terror, Germans are being constantly fed a pack of distortions and outright lies.
<<< Whether the issue is civil liberties, immigration, housing discrimination or the economy, much of the German media has created the impression that conditions in the United States are far worse than they are in Germany. In many cases, the opposite is true, but the media rarely catches the double standard. Brockhoff does, and for that he deserves praise.
In Germany, the term "amerikanische Verhaeltnisse" or "conditions as in America" has long been associated with social decay and heartless capitalism, particularly by members of the far left. The problem is that the term is rarely, if ever, held up to the light of truth or objective comparison. >>>
