The dividend is 4 shares will be given for every one share held. 4+1=5 SOWK) -- a multi-media entertainment, manufacturing and marketing content company -- announces that its Board of Directors has authorized a dividend of four shares for each share currently held, effective as of the close of business on Thursday, February 11, 1999. If it was only a dividend of lets say of 1 share for every one held would 1+1=1 no 1+1 would =2. Splits are different in that in place of the 1 share you had you would have 4 shares if it were a 4 for 1 split.
