I would have thought that it was true, as a general proposition, that a hotter Atlantic would cause more Atlantic hurricanes.

That is, until I read further, and saw that a hotter Pacific and a hotter Sahel desert would cause fewer Atlantic hurricanes.

And we still don't know what causes them to form in the first place.
