WinNT has always had a POSIX compatibility layer. With Internix, they just get a better one. I don't think that the Internix purchase had an obstructionist motive. There are many other things expected of a unix box by unix apps that aren't covered by POSIX... shells, line-printer daemons, etc. There are also other competing unix-compatibility solution such as UWIN.

The purpose of these compatibility solutions are billed as to help ease moving from a Unix to a WinNT infrastructure. At my last contract, I found that it could be used just as nicely to move in the other direction. :)
