In a past life I sold equipment to phone companies, so I am initimately aware of the process and the impact. The company I worked for got approved in 6 of the 8 LECs, and in one year increase revenue by $200 million, and the stock price went from $5 per share to $70 per share (yes I had some, and it is the basis for my current portfolio).

I would like a clarification of your response. Are they approved in these 5 companies of for their ATM platforms or their Frame Relay platforms. This is a BIG difference, since what we are seeing here is the long anticipated transition from FR to ATM.

The big opportunity here is for local exchange carriers. All other customers will only represent a small fraction of revenues, unless ATM and FR moves beyond the phone companies and into the LAN arena. I think that the LAN companies will reluctantly utilize ATM, but will more than likely be receptive to the faster Ethernet transition.

Keep in mind that the ATM opportunities will DWARF the FR opportunites because ATM is a more versatile platform. I am now long on CSCC. With patience this stock will skyrocket (of course I am assuming the company repeats its success in ATM with that in FR). This stock looks a lot like CSCO two years ago. I remember the fall of CSCO's stock, but I made the big mistake (I was not quite as stock saavy) of not buying. I will not make this mistake again. As a matter of fact, I have now convinced about 8 of my friends to invest in CSCC.
