John, thanks for the article about AMD as a takeover candidate and
Compaq and Gateway 2000 being mentioned as possible suitors. I
want to go on record as saying that if Compaq were to ever buy
this turkey, after buying Tandem and DEC in the last two years,
Eckhard Pfeiffer would have to completely lose his mind. Maybe
his being named named man of the year in 1997 has totally gone to
his head.

I would even question Compaq buying a relatively good company
like LSI because enough (buyouts) is enough. I doubt that Compaq
would seriously consider AMD.
