Text of email sent to info@spec.org:
It has come to my attention that SPEC is still showing benchmark results for the the Intel Pentium III 1.13 GHz CPU, even though this CPU was withdrawn from the market on 28-August-2000. The SPEC entry for this product is at
spec.org

The introduction date of this product was July 31, 2000. It was recalled on August 28,2000. Here is a URL for the recall:
yahoo.cnet.com

This is not just a product which stopped production. ALL EXISTING PRODUCT WAS RECALLED BY INTEL. I think you agree that it has no right being on the SPEC benchmark list since the hardware is unavailable, contrary to the statement made at the first URL above, which says that hardware is available starting July of 2000. I can understand keeping legacy CPU's performance in the database, but when a product is recalled for defects, it should not be represented.

Also, Intel Corporation is continuing to list results of SPEC benchmarks for the 1.13 GHz Pentium III processor, so I would respectfully request that you ask them to remove these results from their web page.
(For example, see intel.com )

Sincerely,
John Petzinger
