I've been wondering for a while how much money has gone into gold stock financings versus bullion etf's. It would be nice to see market cap of the producers, especially juniors and future producers ratioed to the gold price. I think big money is entering gold stocks through financings rather than market purchases. I don't know about dividends, but if majors go with cash instead of stock for buyouts and more exploration starts getting funded by producers instead of speculative juniors maybe then things will move. Whatever the cause, it has been frustrating, but still better than mainstream stocks.

Edit: Another thought is that global gold production has been flat to down since 2002. That is positive for the gold price, but not for the gold stock indices.
