President Trump: "Are we living in Nazi Germany?"

Original headline:

CNN begins Watergating President Trump

CNN, the New York Times, and every other media outlet that went with the Fake News that Russia is blackmailing Donald Trump pissed away what little credibility they have left.

Literally.

For weeks, Rick Wilson has peddled a story that Russia has the goods on The Donald making him a pawn of Putin. The story is so bizarre that it includes an allegation that Trump hired hookers to piss on a bed in Moscow that Obama had slept in.

Apparently, the CIA investigated this and found nothing to it, and filed a report saying so.

Wilson appears on cable TV regularly as a political consultant without anyone disclosing whom he works for. I learned long ago to be wary of the man in politics who has no visible means of support. Whoever he works for hates Trump.

There were no immediate buyers of what Wilson sold. I mean, he had this blockbuster story about Trump that no one in a media that is 90 percent Democratic wanted.

But on Tuesday, something changed.

CNN ran with this -- "Intel chiefs presented Trump with claims of Russian efforts to compromise him" -- as the network laid down its marker that this is Watergate. It even included an aging Carl Bernstein's name on the quadruple byline.

From CNN:

Classified documents presented last week to President Obama and President-elect Trump included allegations that Russian operatives claim to have compromising personal and financial information about Mr. Trump, multiple US officials with direct knowledge of the briefings tell CNN.The real story is who leaked classified information to CNN?

From CNN:

The Trump transition team declined repeated requests for comment.Appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Kellyanne Conway, a senior Trump adviser, dismissed the memos, as unverified and untrue.
A late-night comic has more credibility than CNN, and President Trump is acting accordingly.

So what was in this classified report?

From BuzzFeed:

A dossier making explosive — but unverified — allegations that the Russian government has been “cultivating, supporting and assisting” President-elect Donald Trump for years and gained compromising information about him has been circulating among elected officials, intelligence agents, and journalists for weeks. The dossier, which is a collection of memos written over a period of months, includes specific, unverified, and potentially unverifiable allegations of contact between Trump aides and Russian operatives, and graphic claims of sexual acts documented by the Russians.BuzzFeed News reporters in the US and Europe have been investigating various alleged facts in the dossier but have not verified or falsified them. CNN reported Tuesday that a two-page synopsis of the report was given to President Obama and Trump. Now BuzzFeed News is publishing the full document so that Americans can make up their own minds about allegations about the president-elect that have circulated at the highest levels of the US government.

Welcome to Fake News. The site got 2.5 million hits and the high-brow News Fakers found a way to move forward with a story everyone agrees is fake.

The New York Times, et cetera, were able to get the allegations in print without any substantiation. You just say these allegations are unverified and attribute it to BuzzFeed.

Mind you, the New York Times refused to go with the story of John Edwards cheating on his cancer-stricken wife even after photos of his love child were published.

Wasn't it just two days ago that these same outlets complained about unsubstantiated reports of Hillary henchman John Podesta leading a pedophile ring? This is the first time I am mentioning pizzagate, as well as the last time.

Never Trumper John Podhoretz leaped in with a passive-aggressive attack on President Trump by clucking his tongue at Buzz Feed for publishing "those terrible allegations," which he then described. "Some of them have to do with Trump’s personal sexual conduct."

Meanwhile, Zero Hedge reported that a rumor-mill site is the source of Rick Wilson's rumor:

In a story that is getting more surreal by the minute, a post on 4Chan now claims that the infamous "golden showers" scene in the unverified 35-page dossier, allegedly compiled by a British intelligence officer, was a hoax and fabricated by a member of the chatboard as "fanfiction", then sent to Rick Wilson, who proceeded to send it to the CIA, which then put it in their official classified intelligence report on the election.
Zero Hedge then listed a bunch on screen shots and the like, before concluding:

While this entire incident is laughable, and even more so if the 4Chan account is accurate, what makes it quite tragic, is that it is no longer possible to dismiss the "fake news" angle to an intelligence report. And if the CIA is compromised, what is left for "news outlets" like CNN and BuzzFeed, which were all too eager to run with the story without any attempt at verification?
Maybe Wilson used the site in an attempt to sell the story.

That is not as important as this is: the media is not backing down on President Trump.

Perhaps we are witnessing another collaboration among the highly politicized elements of the CIA -- remember Valerie Plame? -- and dubious sites funded by who knows whom, the press is going to manufacture a Watergate just as it tried with Bush 43.

Remember, the man passed over to be FBI director was the Deep Throat in Watergate. Government employees are powerful enemies.

And unlike Bush 43 who survived Plamegate, Trump like Nixon has few friends in Washington. John McCain would love to Goldwater him and force Trump to resign, don't you think?
We live in a dangerous time in which our democratic republic just may be clinging parlously (perilously) to the cliff high with only a pool of fascism below.

Can't happen here?

It already has.

The press aided and abetted a Democratic Congress in overthrowing a duly elected president (by 49 states) in 1974.
