Interesting "60 Minutes" last night. They had two DNC pieces, one on the Pharmaceutical Industry, and one on the ice in Antarctica melting due to global warming, that sandwiched an interesting one on DNA testing. They were discussing the "family" issue of testing. Seems that they get a fair number of close matches where they can say, "it's not this guy in prison, but it's probably a member of his family." So the issue is, is it fair to tell the investigators this? Not according to the ACLU. Too "invasive of privacy." So the FBI has not passed this info on when a state checks the Federal database. But it sounds like the pressure against this prohibition is working.

What they slid right by, mentioning but not emphasising, was the genetic nature of crime. It really does run in families. This came up because they didn't think it was "fair" to point out that there were so many blacks in jail that if they allowed family testing, almost all black men in the country could possibly be linked. One hell of an indictment.
