There is no magic in it. It is just people clinging to atavistic genes and believing that the unknown events such as rain and wind and breathing and earthquakes and sickness and the sun being pulled around the earth by a chariot and all these other things are controlled by supernatural beings--mostly sun and star beings--who watch over us and control our destinies.
