"This has been a political game that the Democrats have been playing since they came in as a simple majority-------the game was to test and discredit the Bush administration.

The President has the veto power. The funding bill for the troops has pork attached to it by the Democrat Congress. This is pork that they railed against as they campaigned for office before Nov. 2006-----yet they have attached the pork to the Iraq funding bill going against what they promised those who voted for them.

Either way that Bush goes, either vetoing or not vetoing, he has scored a major point for the Bush administration and for Republicans.

He has the troop increase in place, the change in military command has occurred and a super presence is now in the Gulf.

Recently Congress has made much ado about needing to pay attention to our presence in Afghanistan. Where have these new Democrat Congress women and men been?

We have been in Afghanistan as long as in Iraq and of course much longer. Afghanistan hasn't been ignored or forgotten.

Fact is that Bush has Congress in check. Obviously Obama recognizes that-----and Congress did it to themselves by attaching the pork to the funding bill.

Obama's bill for a deadline for troop withdrawal by September 2008 was never a likely one. One cannot establish absolute deadlines for war and peace and make it known.

Obama's bill regarding the September 2008 deadline for withdrawal of troops was political, giving him visibility in making a statement that would appear constructive in terms of "what to do" in Iraq.

To Obama's credit he recognizes a checkmate when it occurrs.

So will Pelosi and her followers remove the pork or leave it in? Will Bush Veto or not veto?

MJ"
