A note from mj--------from the article---

"Prime Minister Olmert asked her to tell President al-Assad that Israel would be willing to reenter negotiations only after Syria ceased support for terrorism in Lebanon and the Palestinian Arab areas. Ms. Pelosi's own trek to Damascus was preceded by a group of Republican House members, including Frank Wolf of Virginia, Joseph Pitts of Pennsylvania, and Robert Aderholt of Alabama, proving that the Democrats hold no monopoly on undertaking fool's errands. The three said they discussed with Syrian officials the flow of terrorists eastward from Syria into Iraq; the flow of weapons westward from Syria into Lebanon; and support for Hamas."

Just a note-----

Virginia Congressman Frank Wolf was elected in 1980 to represent the 10th Congressional District when Reagan was elected. That district originally encompassed Arlington across from the Pentagon and other areas West of Arlington.

Since that time Wolf has made numerous visits to the mid-East, to Africa and other nations on fact finding trips.

Wolf has developed a memory of Congress and of legislation that excedes and encompasses the two Bush administrations, Clinton's reign, and Pelosi's brief 4 months.

Wolf has a quiet, low-key, non-assuming presence. He knows the issues and problems. This gives him value in going on such a trip to Syria.

I have never known Wolf to go on a fool's errand or suffer fool's gladly.

Think it is good that he made the trip ahead of Pelosi's group.
