The "for a few percentage points of share" masks the real reason, being that...P4's are a "no go" in the channel. All other options aat propping up P4 revenues failed miserably.

I suspect that even the desperation P4 price cutting move by INTC will not stop AMD's relentless, as we've seen this past year, Revshare gains by AMD.

I'm convinced though that these desperate P4 price cuts will accelerate INTC's erosion in INTC profit margins over the next couple of quarters that, since the advent of Opteron, have already experienced a 10% decline from 60% to 50%.
