I was not a fan of student loan forgiveness, but then I wasn't a fan of the incentives that the students were given to take out those loans in the first place.

Such actions are not a complete flush of taxpayer money. A targeted subsidy like that to those of lower income have a better chance of stimulating commerce in something other than luxury goods. I think it may be a big reason that we have not had a recession even though many signs keep pointing to one.

It was a better stimulus than the covid checks. Both my wife and I received two checks at that time. We didn't need them. We didn't spend them, not right away, they just got tossed on the pile of money waiting at the bank. In the meantime, the old guy that just today was washing my car didn't get any money at that time because he didn't have a bank or post office box to send .
