Dearest Mark,
I have learned as a parent that consequences are the real loving thing to do to a person. My concerns with imprisonment are as follows and honestly I have no solutions but will put these thought out for thought.
The first is the loss of justice and concern for the victims having been a victim I understan the frustration of the intrusion into your life for no reason. the second is the need to release convicted felons to society and they reinjure other innocent people. We had a little girl (7 years old) in our city brutally raped and murdered. The man responsible had been released early from prison for molesting a girl. This should never have happened. Talk to the families of this precious little flower about her torment and what should be done. The man that killed her was given the death penalty but it was overturned because the girl was not old enough for her life to be of enough value to the State to warrant that penalty. I am perplexed and have no stance on the death penalty but if he is released again the innocent people will have to live in prison will he enjoys freedom.
Just some thoughts,
Nancy
