Gold-Eagle just did an art. about numismatic gold as defined by the irs:bottom line any coin that carries a 15% premium over the price of gold is considered not bullion.
You can get "very fine" grade double, single and half eagles pre 1907 for an average of 390-395 per oz.retail.
