I spoke with a friend at Gundy who does institutional trading. Its his view that most of the index funds would have purchased BII by now, but that there may be a little further buying required over the next few days. Apparently there are no rules on this, except that some funds are hesitant to start to accumulate shares the moment the announcement is made because there is always a risk that the company will not be included in the index. The extent of purchases and the speed at which they are accumulated varies from fund to fund. Crux: some funds will be required to increase their holdings, but a large percentage has probably already happened.
