J Chris...I think the technology is improving on missile interception and it won't be too long before we'd be able to shoot down even "several" missiles.

Anyway...we've already blown a $100 billion or so on it, so why not stick with it when we're actually getting close?

If we ever perfect the suckers we'll be able to get our dough back by selling them to the Japanese, Europeans, Saudis and anybody else with deep pockets.
