they will retaliate alright, but not with tarrifs. they'll start nationalizing american (bermude -g/ng) based outposts - intel fabs in malaysia, coca cola bottling plants in india, nike factories in vietnam etc etc etc - and for good measure china might "accidentally" lose a nuke over the riyadh and completely F our oil supply. then the saudis freak and yank their assets out of the US and japan starts dumping dollars and yada yada yada. next thing you know your yahoo home page is squawking "would you like to play a game?" not even the US cannot get out of this box by pissing off the entire planet.
