This would work! The best answer would be for Clinton to resign. The best argument I've seen for not impeaching Clinton is the "equal treatment" appeal. Reagan got off in Iran-Contra. I think it helped his case that he could genuinely appear to be uninformed and "not all there" daily, a view encouraged by his critics. When Clinton the Rhodes scholar pleads that he doesn't recall being in a room with Monica... Well, I think to myself that even REAGAN would remember a thing like that. If Iran-Contra had produced a semen-stained dress with Reagan's DNA (I have no idea how that would happen, catching Reagan in a perjurous statement, he would have been impeached. As I recall, they DID nail Ollie North. I think that if we'd elected a Republican president instead of Clinton, and he was in this same fix, the Republicans would still vote to impeach him. Democrats would help.
