U.S. weekly power output rises 3.7 percent - EEI Wednesday March 12, 11:58 am ET
NEW YORK, March 12 (Reuters) - Electricity production in the continental United States for the week ended March 8, 2003, rose 3.7 percent from the same 2002 period to 72,527 gigawatt hours, the Edison Electric Institute (News - Websites) said Wednesday. The Mid-Atlantic region once again showed the largest year-on-year percentage increase in output, rising 12.5 percent to 10,380 GWh, the EEI said.
The Pacific Southwest, meanwhile, was once again the only year-on-year percentage loser, falling 2.1 percent to 5,577 GWh.
For the first 10 weeks of the year, production totaled 753,068 GWH, up 7.2 percent from last year.
For the 52 weeks ended March 8, power production totaled 3,827,187 GWh, up 5.8 percent from the same 2002 period. |
