Nokia Drive 3.0 user manual reveals My Commute feature, app coming soon to all Windows Phones

Nokia went to great lengths to discuss its portfolio of exclusive apps, some of which are new while others are set to receive significant updates. The lauded turn-by-turn navigation app Nokia Drive falls into the latter category, with version 3.0 on its way soon to Lumia owners. MobileTechWorld got their hands on the official user manual which appeared online Nokia's servers. The manual includes the following anecdotes:

• Find your way with turn-by-turn directions and voice guidance
• Track your location, speed, and the distance driven, even if not navigating
• Preload maps before travelling and use Nokia Drive offline to save data costs
• Save your most-used destinations to your phone
• Get a warning when you exceed the speed limit
• Get real-time info on traffic incidents and conditions on your daily routes using My Commute

As you may have noticed in the quick feature list, a new functionality called My Commute is found in the new update. That feature will let you set your home/work addresses as well as a usual time for your daily journey on the road. Delving deeper into the manual reveals that My Commute will let you "see info on the traffic conditions and estimated travel time for your next commute on the Nokia Drive live tile on the start screen. You also get real-time info on traffic conditions and incidents while driving." Sounds like it could be a great companion feature for those who have to put up with daily freeway hassles (as a Californian, I know this for a fact).

There's no official release date expected for Nokia Drive 3.0 unfortunately, but the company has gone on record to say that it will release sometime this Summer. The release should also be when every Windows Phone gets access to Nokia Drive, though we're not completely sure on that. Stay tuned (and keep your eyes on the road) in the meantime.
