Scumbria,

Did you read the FL Supreme Court decision?

If you did, you would realize that they are right and the SOS is wrong.

Yes I did. But I guess you did not. The conflict was not between Harris and whoever else, but between the FL Supreme Court and the Law. Harris stayed within the Florida law, but the law is in conflict with Gore agenda, and therefore the agenda of Democrat Supreme court.

So the Supreme Court decided to rewrite the law to fit their agenda. They are looking for a contradiction in the law where there isn;t necessarily one. The only contradiction is between the Gore agenda and the timeline specified in the law.

But the SC didn't strike down any section of the law. Why don't you think they didn't do it if they feel so strongly about the contradictory laws? They wimped out because it would mean changing election law after the election. The federal law states that elections have to be governed by laws enacted before the election. This would open the door wide opened for Bush to appeal.

The 7 Democrat Dwarfs just decided to weasel out of all of this with everything Gore asked for with as little noise as possible.

Reading a court opinion for the first time, my impression is that these 7 people are probably not the best and the brightest our country has to offer. But they are fiercely liberal and loyal. Good candidates for a US Supreme Court of Gore presidency. The best quality though is that they don't hesitate to play executive and legislate, completely violating the separation between these branches.

The law, the Constitution be damned, just do whatever it takes to make Gore president, that's the overarching goal.

Joe
