I've been trying to chase down that rumor myself.

I tend to doubt it. In the gravy days, Gilder was flying from Florida to the Caymans with the CEO of MRVC. I doubt they were both trying to put stock shares in safety deposit boxes.

Gilder is dissembling, as always. His money is safe in off shore tax havens. The lien on the home is good press for someone who ought to be the target of massive class action lawsuits for fraudulent stock promotion schemes.
