you're welcome. i thought so too. here's a guy (gibson) who knows this stuff inside out, and he was still knocked for a loop by the denial of service attack.

it was intense reading about the compromised machines (bots) that these hackers collect to form armies. think of the poor home user who has absolutely zero idea what is going on with his or her pc. and think of how the isp's gibson contacted weren't interested in his precise info on the compromised machines. to me, that totally points to the dire need for each of us to take at least the most basic of precautionary steps to put firewalls and antivirus programs in place. no one else is going to do it for us, nor are they going to be able to do much for us when they are handed evidence. that is astounding.
