Kudos to GWB on cleaning up Afghanistan. It was a well executed operation. I have no complaints about what has transpired so far.
That's your response after making the following comment?
How many damn wars does King George, Imperator I think he ought to take on at one time?
Kudos for the "imperator"?
It's kind of funny that you praise Bush's handling of the Afghanistan action on one hand, yet tell us we're supposed to listen to "humanity". The very same humanity, including the 77% of the muslim world who believe Bush's actions were morally unjustifiable, yet believe the WTC attack WAS justifiable??
If the US had "listened" to the rest of humanity, the Taliban would still be in power and Al-Qaida would still be continuing operations from Afghanistan. The majority of the rest of humanity, as represented by their governments, was against the US engaging in military operations in Afghanistan.
And a good portion of the rest of humanity live under repressive regimes.
Over a Billion people in China...
Over a Billion Muslims...
A Billion and a half others living in poverty under various corrupt regimes and petty dictatorships...
And then finally us, the western industrialized nations...
Yeah.. those living under democratic ideals should take their guidance from those governments who have little regard for the human rights of their own populations??
Yeah... establish a "world court" when most of the rest of humanity doesn't even have their most basic human rights codefied or respected.
Demanding the US pursue unilateral "free trade" policies when our competitors are so engaged in subterfuge and bribery scandals, that the US is forced to monitor their business activities with our intelligence resources to prevent corruption from disadvantaging US corporations (the US is one of the few nations on the planet that severely enforces "anti-kickback" regulations against corporations)??
You just don't give something away without demanding something in return, especially when it concerns access to your economy and consumer base. The rest of the world wants to sell things to us. We'd like to sell things back to them in the same monetary quantity so there is no trade deficit.
But that's just not how it currently is, now is it?
You amuse me sometimes Ray.., you really do.
Sadly, the rest of the time you just leave me astonished with your seeming naivete.
And that Iran-Contra quip was just further evidence of how obviously naive you are.
It's apparently alright for us to take direct military action against Afghanistan, but we can't assist the Nicaraguan people to overthrow a Marxist regime that usurp the dreams and wishes of the Nicaraguan middle class, who had finally decided to rise up revolution against Somoza's own corruption?? The same Nicaraguan middle class, which was utterly wiped out by the Sandinistas, and their property confiscated without legal recourse? It was their desire to replace a dictator with a totalitarian regime??
Give me a break....
