In the first paragraph:

According to Spain’s national statistics
institute, the rate of unemployment in Spain rose 3.45% to 17.4% in the
first quarter of 2009! The number of unemployed increased by 1.8 million
to 4.01 million people, the highest in 10 years.


Wouldn't a jump from 2.21 Million people to 4.01 Million people be a rise of 81.4%? If 1.8 Million more people are on the dole, how can unemployment have risen only 3.45%?

Maybe its just the late hour....
