SPD does block 99.4% of IR as well as UV. In a test performed by Mercedes a few year ago in Mohave Desert the interior temp was 18 degrees cooler than the exterior temp w/o AC. It proved that a smaller AC unit could be installed in vehicles to decrease cost. Remember too that this tech is dimmable tint meaning it is not just "on or off." The tint levels can be controlled with a dimmer switch. Also, it is not legal to apply to windshields except on the top 4" or 6" which mitigates loss of power.
