Malcolm Bricklin, Visionary's CEO, brought the now-defunct Yugo to the U.S. in the 1980s and began importing Subaru cars from Japan in 1968. Chery would be the first Chinese-made cars sold in the United States. Bricklin told the AP. that five Chery models would begin selling in January 2007. Two years ago, General Motors accused the Chinese car maker of copying its Chevrolet Spark, a small hatchback model based on GM's (GM: news, chart, profile) Daewoo Matiz, the Detroit News reported. Chery has denied the allegation, but GM said it is considering suing the company in a Chinese court. marketwatch.com
