You know, it is pretty outlandish to think that children born here to foreign parents will not learn English when the same kids would have been beaten by their parents to learn English had they remained back home.

Immigrant parents tend to be much harder on their kids to do well in school than Canadians, And that means the kids will have to learn English well enough to do well in school. Which means they are learning English just fine.

I know... but if you lived in QC.. then you KNOW the obstacles that were put up.. now it is common to hear all kinds of Francophone Asians (immigrants).. I automatically switch to English when dealing with an Asian in Montreal.. but that is dead wrong today with anyone I'd say 35 for younger... They prefer French and often surprisingly the English is laboured..

Quebec (Montreal) today is FAR FAR different than 1980 ESPECIALLY ex Montreal...
