ANO Anatolia's Copler Drill Results; Regains Grassroots

Tuesday September 5, 1:26 pm ET
Copler Drilling Explores New Areas, Extends Resource: CDD-431 cuts 46 meters @1.6 gpt gold; CRC-437 cuts 53 meters @ 2.0 gpt gold. Anatolia regains Grassroots program from Rio Tinto, will continue to collaborate on projects in Turkey.

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 5, 2006) - Anatolia Minerals Development Limited (TSX:ANO - News; "Anatolia") is pleased to announce assay results at its 100% owned Copler Gold Project and immediately adjacent prospects. This drill program was designed to expand and infill the current 5.4-million-ounce total resource (2.0 million oz proven & probable and 3.4 million oz resource), condemnation drill planned facilities sites and scout drill prospective areas near Copler. The primary drilling objectives of this program are now substantially complete; although selective follow-up drilling is expected to continue through year end and planning will begin for future drilling programs. The maps attached to this news release will be posted to Anatolia's web site (www.anatolia-minerals.com).

By July 31, 71 reverse-circulation and 5 diamond core holes aggregating 9,216 meters had been completed at Copler for 2006, with results received for all but a few holes. Nine holes were drilled for condemnation or metallurgical purposes, the balance being for exploration outside of known mineralized zones. A summary of Copler exploration holes with meaningful results are given below (generally oxides, unless noted). Reported intercepts represent true widths.

Separately, two prospects near Copler, Demirmagara (4 kilometers east) and Bahce (3 kilometers north), were mapped, sampled and scout-drilled. Both contain potential for porphyry Copper-gold-molybdenum mineralization (up to 0.03% Mo), plus related gold systems, like Copler. All drilling was diamond core. A summary of some of the more significant results are presented below:

Demirmagara Results: -------------------- Drill Intercept Au Hole (Meters) Gpt Comments DMH-001 6 2.8 0-6m @ 2.8 gpt gold, plus 1.33% Cu DMH-002 20 0.7 65-85m @ 0.7 gpt gold, plus 0.25% Cu DMH-003 23 1.1 129-152 @ 1.1 gpt gold in marble DMH-006 4 1.8 0-4m 1.8 gpt gold, plus 1.91% Cu DMH-007 12 1.5 3-15m 1.5 gpt gold, plus 0.88% Cu

Bahce Results: -------------- Drill Intercept Au Hole (Meters) Gpt Comments BHD-001 78 0.3 83-161m @ 0.3 gpt gold, plus 0.32% Cu BHD-002 60 0.2 62-122m @ 0.2 gpt gold, plus 0.32%Cu, (incl 67-82m @ 0.3 gpt gold, 0.77% Cu)

A more detailed breakout of 2006 drilling results will be posted to our Website.

Richard C. Moores, President of Anatolia, stated, "We are encouraged by the results of our preliminary investigations of these new areas both within and adjacent to Copler. These scout holes confirm the existence of large, overlooked areas containing significant mineralization. We plan to follow up on these and other raw exploration targets, which have the potential to significantly add to the resource base of the larger Copler resource area. Coupled with in-fill drilling (see Anatolia News Release, dated December 7, 2005) at Copler and a planned drill program targeting sulfide gold mineralization planned for later this year, we should be able to update our resource and reserve estimates by the end of this year. Considerable effort has been directed at defining additional oxide and sulfide resources at Copler which should pay off for us as we look to future drilling."

Anatolia will re-assume responsibility for its own grassroots exploration in Turkey as of the end of January, 2007, rather than December 31, 2007, as agreed with Rio Tinto Mining & Exploration (Rio Tinto). Rio Tinto has recently beefed up its capabilities in Turkey, following an internal reorganization, allowing each company to independently pursue and benefit from its individual grassroots program. Both companies will continue to work together on a number of properties in Turkey and look forward to an ongoing collaboration for the foreseeable future. Commenting, Anatolia CEO Richard Moores said: "We are very pleased at the relationship and achievements Anatolia and Rio Tinto have shared over the past six and a half years and look forward to continuing to work together on our current portfolio of prospects. Both groups have evolved over this period and we believe it is better for Anatolia to underwrite its own grassroots program to more fully benefit from its successes."

In other developments, the sole public meeting required by the Turkish Environmental Impact Study process was held recently in Ilic, a town near the proposed Copler mine site. More than 200 local citizens attended, as well as a number of local, regional and federal officials. Our proposed development plan was well received, with the greatest interest expressed by the citizens of the area concerning distribution of jobs to local citizens and how soon development could begin. Company officials addressed participants and committed to continue to involve local, regional and national concerns in our planning and implementation process. Anatolia remains focused on implementing a program that meets Turkish and world standards to protect the environment, while creating benefits and opportunities for the local populace.

Anatolia currently has 61.1 million common shares issued and outstanding, 70.5 million fully diluted.

Anatolia trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange as ANO.
