They must be madder than hell at Centcom and the whole DOD chain of command.

I agree with that assessment.

This is one helluva indictment of the JCS and DOD and its structure. Recall that I posted recently that DOD was founded in 1947 and we have not won a major war since.
DOD is the losing branch of our armed forces.

What is it about an American bureaucracy that their leaders always want to add another layer of supervision when things are going badly? After 9/11 John Negroponte's selection to the intelligence czar position created the sixteenth supervisory layer in our intel apparatus. Just what we needed...right! There don'tcha feel safer now?

Somebody should remind President Bush that as Commander-in-Chief he is our war czar.

They need a "Napoleon."

If they is we...no we don't.

Napoleon lost his ass to the insurgency in Spain. In fact the word guerrilla is believed to have been coined during Napoleon's invasion and occupation of Spain in the early 1800s. That war proved that Napoleon was not invincible. France eventually lost over 250,000 men in that conflict and Napoleon was force to withdraw.
Come to think of it their are similarities with our invasion of Iraq. Maybe I'll write about those. Beginning with comparing the French attack on Madrid with the attack on Baghdad and the failed attempts to establish a government.
