SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 5, 1997--

TV/COM To Provide Conditional Access And Satellite Uplink

Equipment For New Digital Satellite Distribution Service

TV/COM International Inc. -- a subsidiary of Hyundai Electronics and a world leader in supplying open architecture delivery solutions for cable, satellite, PC and terrestrial television networks -- Tuesday announced that it has formed an alliance with Digital Access Network Inc. (DANI).

Under the terms of the alliance, TV/COM will supply its MPEG-2/DVB-compliant digital compression and conditional access equipment for DANI's new satellite distribution service.

A newly announced company, DANI founders include former TV/COM executive Jim Shelton, former Showtime Satellite Networks Senior Vice President Larry Rebich and former AlphaStar Director Brian Haan.

DANI is dedicated to servicing the needs of educational, ethnic and private business networks, providing programmers with satellite uplink and transponder capacity, conditional access control, call center services and an exclusive signal security warranty. The company will use TV/COM's digital compression and conditional access equipment, and receivers from Hyundai and other sources.

``DANI's operating philosophy and technology choices provide programmers with a cost-effective way to reach their audiences and eliminate significant barriers to entry,'' said Jim Shelton, managing director of DANI. ``TV/COM has an excellent product line, and we are extremely pleased to be able to offer their digital compression and conditional access equipment to our customers.''

``TV/COM is pleased to be selected by DANI to be a major technology partner in their digital satellite systems,'' said Jeff Wallin, president and chief executive officer, TV/COM. ``This alliance demonstrates TV/COM's commitment to develop open and interchangeable systems for digital satellite networks.''
