So that gets Korea back to where, 50% down? Laughter may be the best medicine, but there isn't much to laugh about in Asia. Unless civil unrest, depression, bankruptcy, and despair strikes one as funny. Depression is the outcome no matter which course they take. The only question is will they fix the problems, or cover them up and hope for the best. Not a pleasant outlook. The Asian crisis will take a very long time to play out. At this point it is unclear as to whether it will spread around the world. My own take is that it will, but we may not see the effects for a year or more. Rallies or dead cat bounces in those markets do not change what has happened or what will happen. Japan has had numerous sharp rallies over the last 8 years, each heralded as the end of their problems. But last time I looked the Nikkei was down 60% from where it was in 1989. Dwight
