I'll repost here something I posted on the Cisco thread awhile ago...
Anyway, you say, "Anybody can see this iraq mess is a failure."
I don't see that. In fact, it is the first attempt in 50 years to democratize the Middle East. No one can judge the failure or success of Iraq until another 10 years has passed. If 10 years from now, Iraq is ruled by another thug terrorist like Saddam or is ruled by Islamic fanatics in the form of a theocracy like in Iran, then we can all judge it to be a failure. But if 10 years from now, you have a pluralist government, that gets rotated out peacefully through an election mechanism, and isn't hostile to the rest of the world, then we can judge Iraq to have been a success.
I can't talk of success when thousands of lives both American and Iraqi have been lost, and thousands more have been maimed for life. And the cost does not stop there.........there is the expenditure of nearly $300-500 billion dollars. Nothing, absolutely nothing, is worth that cost. And nothing good can come from something so grossly bad.
The perpetrators of such a catastrophic disaster clearly have little understanding of the ME.
Anyone claiming Iraq is a failure today is so incredibly short sighted, it's laughable.
Really? See above.
In fact, I'm laughing bitterly right now, because I know many people in America share your point of view. Thank God for the way this country is structured. When America is at it greatest point of danger, the people with the will and foresight to defend her seem to always rise to power. Thank God for that.
I am glad to hear you're laughing over something so very serious........it confirms to me your madness!
If we were all so liberal minded and refused to fight for the spread of freedom from fascism in all it's forms including today's fascist terrorists, then this country would already look a lot like France and Europe would be called Greater Nazi Germany.
Yes, we've all heard it before..........does it matter that the analogy is meaningless and ridiculous? Probably now..........hawks like you will grasp at any straw in the wind to prove your point............Hitler's Europe, WMDs, al Qa'ida links. You say nothing new...........its simply a regurgitation of the party line.
What's clear is that the lines are drawn.........there is little left for discussion. |
