Another Great Argument For School Vouchers The new voucher system here in Utah is seriously at risk before it even got started. There is a referendum push to vote it out that is likely to succeed. Nobody understands what the vouchers are, and it's being touted as giving public money to religious and private schools. Of course they don't mention that you can take your voucher to other public schools as well. I put it to people like this: "Instead of your kid having to go to school at West, you can use the voucher to send them to East". That lights people's eyes up. West is the "low-class" SLC school, and East is up on the bench, filled with white kids, and "better".
