[chat xDSL stocks, misc. AMTX subjects]

Pat,

>I think as investors we're in that middle ground where over-all ADSL milestones don't impress us and company-specific contract announcements do but they're few and far between. A year ago an announcement of this magnitude would have sent Amati's stock up a couple points.<

xDSL stock prices are in the hands of the deployers. As your statement indicates, milestones will do very little right now. Only contracts can bring in needed revenues so the potential of the company can be realized. I know you are a long term AMTX holder. What is your take on AMTX if no contracts come through by Oct.? It's hard to predict the future and certainly telco delays can knock contract announcements further back than Oct. However, for a telco to deploy in 1st qtr '98, they must have a selected equipment supplier. If my memory serves me right, you posted a list of telcos that you thought were going to deploy ADSL sometime in '97 or early '98. Surely if that is the case, a vendor has to be selected by end of 3rd qtr '97. If nothing comes through for AMTX by Oct., I will not only be out thousands on my calls, but will have almost no faith left for further AMTX purchases. Time will tell what pans out. A company with a great story, but delivery has got to start shortly.

I appreciate the transcript posting. CSCO is a big dog and their bark carries weight.

Also, did you check out the URLs for those articles I posted? What is AMTX going to do about DLC systems? I have read nothing about this from AMTX and it is a critical subject for telcos.

Mike
