Ousted Afghan President Rabbani to return to Kabul Wednesday AFPD (Doha, Nov 13) Ousted Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani has told Qatar's Al-Jazeera satellite channel he intends to return to the Afghan capital Kabul Wednesday following his forces chasing out the ruling Taliban militia. "I plan to go back to Kabul tomorrow," Rabbani said on Tuesday. He was deposed by the Taliban in 1996 but is still recognized as Afghanistan's president by the United Nations. The Afghan envoy in Dushanbe earlier said Rabbani intended to return to Kabul in the next two or three days.
