AFTER THE BELL -Intuit falls on Q2 results (but Novell rises)

NEW YORK, Feb 24 (Reuters) - Shares of Intuit fell 5/8 in the early after-hours trading as the software company reported pro forma earnings that fell in line with Wall Street estimates, traders said.

The company reported earnings per diluted share of $0.85 compared with $2.44 a year earlier. Pro forma net income was $0.95 per diluted share, just over the First Call consensus earnings estimate of $0.94 per share.

Intuit's shares traded at 49-1/4 around half an hour after the bell, down from their unofficial close of 49-7/8.

Shares of Novell Inc (NOVL - news) traded at 9-1/16 after regular hours, up 5/16 from their unofficial close of 8-22/32. The software company appeared to beat the First Call consensus earnings estimate of $0.02 for its first quarter, posting income of $0.04 per diluted share compared with $0.15 a year earlier.
