Until pretty recently, all up and down the Texas Gulf coast you could wade out into the surf and find pieces of foundation and other stuff poking up out of the sand. In places you could find the remains of a black top road, in the dunes. It was the remains of houses and the beach road that was wiped out in Carla, which also had shifted the beach line. Most of that is gone, new and much more expensive houses have been built there and the reminders of an earlier time has been removed. Until the next one... You're probably right. However, I have a feeling this hurricane season is a harbinger of things to come. ted
