Dear Mark, I still understand the Word of God to be a light that shines in the hearts of all people. What you see is basically what is in their hearts being revealed by how they see what God said. In many areas it says we are being refined like Gold in the fire. ALan is a jeweler and I have seen this process and understand the terminology some from my observations of riding the Gold of impurities by breaking it down to let the impurities come out. The Word of God has traps for the proud and arrogant and even stumbling blocks for us when we read it with wrong intentions IMO.
