I just tried the minimizing trick, and it worked. Thanks, and I will continue using this method until and unless something better comes along.

P.P.S. It seems that not every website causes the power struggle. For instance, neither SI nor Yahoo do. Freerealtime.com, which I use a lot, is the primary culprit. It also happens at ellisislandrecords.org [an amazing site]. So, maybe it is less of a browser thing than and more of a sneaky webmaster trick.
