quahog since i use ie5.5 and i do not have the problem you are describing, it must be a browser setting. and i don't have to accomplish it by minimizing any windows. i'm just kinda' guessing here, but check under 'tools', 'internet options', 'advanced' and see whether or not you have the box checked that says reuse windows for launching shortcuts. if it is checked, try unchecking it. to the best of my recollection, this setting is not specifically for what you are describing, but it may have the desired effect. and it only takes a second to try. :) mark
