it's strange that you pick Newsweek
The choice of adjectives by the Newsweek Reporter jumped out at the NRO columnist, and I consider the Newsweek guy a good reporter who is not even aware of what he is doing. BTW, I have never seen the major media use "left wing radical," or "left wing" anything. "Right Wing," on the other hand is normal.
When Ken's FA thread started, I used "left" and "Left wing" a lot, just to piss off the Liberals on the thread, who never see it used in the media, and most are offended to be called that.
For example, you will constantly see "Phyllis Schlafly, head of right wing Eagle Forum," but you will never see, "Patricia Ireland, head of the left wing NOW organization."
This media involved are so used to this they have no idea they are doing it, and go, "who me?" when challenged on it.
This is the first time I have whined about this type of usage in a long time. :>) It is so common I ignore it. |
